Authorities Apprehend Two Women with Large Cache of Suspected YABA Tablets on Rajdhani Express in Guwahati

During a routine inspection of Train No. 20503, the Rajdhani Express in Guwahati on May 1, authorities made a significant discovery, apprehending two female passengers in possession of a substantial quantity of suspected YABA tablets. The individuals, identified as Sumitra Barman, 35, and Mamoni Ray, 40, were found carrying 100 packets, each containing 50 tablets, totaling an estimated 20,000 suspected YABA tablets.

Barman and Ray, who were traveling from Dimapur to Koch-Behar, West Bengal, were seated in Coach A2, occupying Seats 31 and 32, respectively. Both women hail from Dinhata Thapu village in the Dinhata police jurisdiction of Cooch Behar district, West Bengal. Sumitra Barman is married to Pradip Ray, while Mamoni Ray is married to Kamal Ray.

Following the seizure of the suspected drugs, authorities have initiated necessary legal proceedings against the individuals. This apprehension underscores the continued efforts to combat drug trafficking activities and uphold security measures on the railways, ensuring the safety of passengers and maintaining law and order.
