Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Accuses BJP of “Mafia Raj” in Assam, Rallies Support for Congress Candidates

Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made a bold statement during her visit to Assam, leading a rally in Balajan, Dhubri at 10 am in support of Congress candidate Rakibul Hussain for the upcoming elections.

Gandhi Vadra didn’t hold back, alleging the presence of a “mafia raj” in Assam under the BJP’s rule and directing her criticism towards Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. She pointed out the disappearance of serious charges against Sarma after his switch from Congress to BJP, suggesting favoritism within the ruling party.

“This government is solely focused on its own interests… They are indifferent to the struggles of the public… Unemployment has reached unprecedented levels today. 70 crore people are without jobs,” declared Gandhi Vadra, emphasizing her concerns about governance under the current administration.

This visit underscores Gandhi Vadra’s ongoing involvement in Assam’s political landscape. Her previous visit on April 16 aimed to garner support for Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress candidate for the Jorhat assembly seat.

As Assam gears up for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, featuring 47 candidates across four constituencies, the political atmosphere is charged with anticipation. With the state heading to the polls for the final phase on May 7, political parties are ramping up their campaigns to secure voter support in what promises to be a pivotal electoral battle.
