Following a series of arson attacks targeting government properties, including police stations, authorities in Shillong have ramped up security measures to safeguard public safety and uphold law and order.
Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district, SC Sadhu, addressed reporters, revealing discussions with the Superintendent of Police (SP) to bolster security arrangements, particularly during nighttime hours.
Sadhu outlined a comprehensive plan devised by the SP to tackle the law and order challenges, focusing on identifying and apprehending the perpetrators behind the attacks.
“We are discussing what action we need to initiate and in terms of identifying the culprits who are perpetrating these kinds of attacks and we will update again,” he stated, underscoring the administration’s commitment to restoring peace and order.
Additionally, the DC highlighted advisories issued to government departments and offices to secure their vehicles and properties, especially by avoiding open areas.
“We have informed all line departments to keep their vehicles and properties in a secured way, particularly not to keep in open areas, particularly government vehicles. We are strengthening security, and we are hopeful in the next one or two days we can stabilize things particularly in law and order,” he emphasized, expressing optimism about restoring stability in the region within a short timeframe.
The concerted efforts aim to quell violence and protect public assets, ensuring the safety of citizens in Shillong and surrounding areas.
