Tragedy struck on the roads of Dima Hasao as a bus accident claimed the life of one passenger and left numerous others injured. The unfortunate incident involved a night bus bound for Tripura, identified by its registration number AS 01 MC 0243, which tragically veered off the highway after losing control.
The bus was ferrying passengers, including students en route to exams at the Tripura Cooperative Bank. Among the victims, Devraj Devvarman, hailing from the Dhalai district of Tripura, lost his life in the crash. The severity of the accident left around 30 passengers injured, with six in critical condition.
Immediate measures were taken to rush the critically injured to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for urgent medical attention, while others were transferred to Harangajao for specialized treatment.
The incident unfolded late at night on Behal road in Ditokcherra, Haflong, when the bus lost control and careened off the road, prompting a swift response from locals to rescue the passengers.
Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the accident as efforts continue to extend medical support and assistance to the injured passengers during this difficult time.
