Tamil Nadu Resident Arrested in Connection with Murder of Assamese Youth in Kerala

In a significant development, Kerala police have apprehended Pandi Durai (29) in connection with the tragic murder of a youth from Assam, Laiman Kisk (19), who lost his life while engaged in cleaning duties near Vakathanam.

The incident unfolded on April 28 when Kisk’s lifeless body was discovered in the waste dump pit of a concrete plant. Investigations swiftly pointed towards Durai, the operator at the facility.

According to police findings, Durai allegedly activated the mixer machine while Kisk was inside, leading to his fatal fall. Subsequently, Durai purportedly used an excavator to dispose of Kisk’s body in the waste pit, concealing the crime by covering it with slurry waste from the plant.

Further scrutiny revealed that Durai, who also served as an electric operator at the plant, had tampered with the establishment’s CCTV system to evade detection.

Upon his arrest on Thursday, Durai was presented before a local court and remanded to judicial custody pending further legal proceedings.

The arrest marks a crucial step in the pursuit of justice for the victim and underscores the diligent efforts of law enforcement agencies in Kerala to uphold the rule of law and ensure accountability for criminal acts.
