With the Lok Sabha Election 2024 progressing, Assam gears up for the crucial third phase scheduled for May 7. Polling teams have been swiftly dispatched to their designated stations in the four parliamentary constituencies of Guwahati, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, and Dhubri, marking a significant step in the electoral process.
In this phase, Assam’s remaining four out of 14 Lok Sabha seats will undergo polling, following the completion of voting for 10 seats in the initial two phases.
Of particular focus are the nine Legislative Assembly constituencies falling under the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha Constituency. Polling parties, comprising presiding officers and officials, are convening at Basic Training Centres to procure necessary materials for the designated stations. Voting is slated to commence promptly at 7 a.m. on May 7.
A substantial voter base of 14,94,404 individuals, comprising 7,41,328 male and 7,43,236 female voters, is anticipated to participate across 1862 polling stations, with 296 identified as critical.
Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi, Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer for Kokrajhar, assured that all requisite arrangements have been meticulously made to ensure the seamless conduct of transparent elections across the five Assembly constituencies in Kokrajhar district.
With robust security measures in place, this phase assumes paramount importance as it determines the fate of 12 candidates, underscoring the electorate’s steadfast focus on governance, peace, and security.
