Former Kokrajhar MP Naba Kumar Sarania Shifts Campaign to Valmiki Nagar, Bihar

Sarania, a former ULFA commander, joins nine other candidates in the race for the Valmiki Nagar seat. His decision to contest from Bihar comes after facing challenges regarding his tribal status and the authenticity of certificates from two different tribes in previous parliamentary elections, which led to the rejection of his nomination papers for Kokrajhar.

Despite contesting the rejection of his nomination papers in the Guwahati High Court, Sarania was unable to secure relief, prompting him to shift his focus to Valmiki Nagar. While addressing concerns about contesting outside his home state, Sarania highlighted the active participation of his party, the Gana Suraksha Party (GSP), in the electoral process in Bihar.

In Valmiki Nagar, Sarania has launched an intensive campaign, engaging in grassroots outreach efforts and connecting with constituents. The constituency’s proximity to Nepal and Uttar Pradesh presents unique challenges and opportunities, and Sarania is diligently navigating the local landscape to convey his vision for the constituency and connect with voters.
