Assam Police Crack Down on Counterfeit Currency Operation, Seizes Rs 2 Crore in Fake Notes

Assam Police achieved a significant breakthrough in the battle against fake currency circulation by conducting a raid on a counterfeit currency operation in Dhubri’s Chapar area. The operation, led by local law enforcement officials, resulted in the seizure of approximately Rs 2 crore worth of fake currency.

During a late-night operation in Barghola, located within Dhirghat of Sapar, police officers apprehended Sahinur Islam, a resident of Dhirghat in Chapar, who was allegedly orchestrating an extensive counterfeit currency network. Islam’s purported involvement in the illicit trade had long been a matter of concern, with allegations suggesting his utilization of mystical practices to perpetrate fraudulent schemes involving counterfeit money.

The seized counterfeit currency, intended for distribution at a fraction of its face value, underscores the profitability of this illegal trade. However, the apprehension of Sahinur Islam marks a significant step in dismantling the infrastructure supporting counterfeit currency operations in Assam.

The ongoing police investigation aims to unravel the intricate network of criminal activities orchestrated by Islam and his accomplices, shedding light on the modus operandi employed to propagate counterfeit currency within the region. This crackdown represents a substantial blow to the clandestine economy of fake currency prevalent in rural areas, where unsuspecting individuals often fall victim to such nefarious schemes.
