IMD Predicts Extensive Rainfall Across North Eastern States

Guwahati, Assam – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for widespread rainfall across the North Eastern states in the upcoming days. According to the IMD, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, is anticipated over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura over the next five days.

This forecast comes in response to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over North East Assam and its adjacent areas at lower tropospheric levels. The IMD specified that this cyclonic circulation is positioned over northeast Assam and its surrounding regions, hovering between 1.5 km and 2.1 km above mean sea level.

Residents residing in the affected areas are advised to exercise necessary precautions and stay abreast of local weather advisories to ensure their safety during this period of adverse weather conditions.
