Karimganj, Assam – In a decisive anti-drug operation, Karimganj Police have seized approximately 300 grams of suspected heroin from the Deokuri area of Kaliganj, with an estimated market value of Rs 2 crore. The operation also led to the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker.
Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a passenger vehicle, registration number AS/11/CC/3654, in Deokuri. Upon conducting a thorough search, they discovered 25 packets containing the suspected heroin, totaling around 300 grams. The arrested individual has been identified as Burhan Uddin, a resident of Bagbari in Kaliganj.
This significant seizure follows a recent major crackdown by the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police in the Koinadhara area under the Basistha Police Station limits in Guwahati. During this raid, the STF team confiscated 23 vials containing approximately 30.5 grams of suspected heroin, along with other incriminating materials.
The coordinated efforts by Karimganj Police and the STF underscore the ongoing battle against the illegal drug trade in the region, reflecting a strong commitment to curbing narcotics trafficking.
