Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma hailed the remarkable growth of the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) after the party secured a significant victory in the state’s lone Lok Sabha seat. ZPM candidate Richard Vanlalhmangaiha clinched the seat with a commanding margin of 68,288 votes, surpassing his nearest rival, K Vanlalvena of the Mizo National Front (MNF).
Speaking at a gathering of ZPM supporters to celebrate the win, CM Lalduhoma remarked, “The ZPM’s progress, as evidenced by the Lok Sabha election results, is truly remarkable. It’s heartening to see us win a majority of votes in 37 assembly segments, including 10 constituencies where we faced defeat in the last assembly polls.”
This victory signifies a significant milestone for the ZPM, a party founded in 2017 and formally registered with the Election Commission in July 2019.
Lalduhoma expressed optimism regarding the party’s future electoral prospects and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to driving substantial developmental initiatives across the state.
