Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Criticizes PM Modi Over UGC-NET Cancellation and NEET Issues

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam and ongoing issues related to NEET. He condemned the administration for disappointing 24 lakh NEET aspirants and betraying 9 lakh NET candidates, accusing the Prime Minister of remaining silent on the matter.

Gogoi stated, “Prime Minister Modi has failed the youth of India. With the NEET exam, 24 lakh people have been disappointed, and through the NET exam, 9 lakh students have been betrayed. Yet the PM chooses to be silent. Rahul Gandhi and Congress will not let them go. Tomorrow, the Congress party will hold a nationwide protest on this matter. Rahul Gandhi will raise the matter of NEET students in the House.”

Earlier intelligence from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit raised concerns about the integrity of the exams shortly after their conclusion. These issues prompted the Ministry to cancel the UGC-NET exam and plan a rescheduled test to ensure transparency and uphold the sanctity of the examination process.

The UGC-NET 2024 cancellation highlights ongoing controversies with exams conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), especially the NEET-UG for medical admissions. The NEET-UG results have been plagued by allegations of irregularities, such as grace marks and paper leaks.

In response, the Ministry of Education has taken steps to address these concerns, including requesting detailed reports from authorities about the alleged irregularities in specific regions’ exam conduct.
