Zoram People’s Movement Gains Nine New Members from Lai Autonomous District Council

The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has welcomed nine new Members of the District Council (MDC) from the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) into its fold. The induction ceremony, held at the LADC Hall in Lawngtlai, saw Government Deputy Chief Whip W. Chhuanawma presiding over the event.Among those who joined the ZPM Party are seven former members of the Mizo National Front (MNF) who recently left the party on April 4. They include Manghmunga Chinzah, BN Thangpuia, CL Lianzuala, V. Zathanga, T. Lalengmuana, Tuturu Singh, and L. Lalhmachhuana. Additionally, two Independent MDCs, N. Language and L.R. Dingliana Chinzah, also joined the ZPM.Addressing the gathering, Government Deputy Chief Whip W. Chhuanawma expressed his appreciation for the new members and highlighted the ZPM’s commitment to transparent governance. He emphasized the party’s stance against the misuse of power in district councils and urged support for the ZPM in the upcoming By-election and Village Council Election.The Lai Autonomous District Council, currently composed of 24 elected members, anticipates a by-election in Lawngtlai Chandmary. The council makeup includes 12 MDCs from the Mizo National Front under the Chief Executive Member (CEM), with the opposition comprising 10 ZPM MDCs and 1 BJP MDC.
