The bust occurred in the Jail Veng area on Thursday, where 240 grams of heroin were confiscated. Two suspects, hailing from Aizawl and Siaha, were apprehended during the operation. Both individuals, along with the seized narcotics, have been handed over to local police for further legal proceedings.

In a related development, the Mizoram Police and Excise and Narcotics Department (END) reported substantial progress in their anti-drug efforts up to May 2024. During the 7th State Level NCORD meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Dr. Renu Sharma, it was disclosed that drugs worth Rs 982.5 crore had been seized, and 581 individuals arrested. This comprehensive review included inputs from key stakeholders such as the DGP Mizoram, IGP Intelligence, Home Commissioner, Secretary END, and other senior officials from the state government, as well as district administrators and superintendents of police participating via video conference.
The meeting focused on evaluating current strategies and planning future actions to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking across Mizoram.
