The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alerts for Assam, predicting conditions that may worsen the already critical flood situation in the state.
The IMD has particularly emphasized the risks in north Assam, urging residents and local authorities to prepare for potential flooding and adverse weather. The heavy rain alerts cover 13 districts, heightening concerns about the increasing severity of floods.
Districts under a yellow alert, indicating a high likelihood of heavy rainfall, include Sonitpur, Biswanath Chariali, Lakhimpur, and Dhemaji. Additional alerts have been issued for Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, and Cachar districts, signaling significant rainfall activity.
Moreover, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Goalpara, Barpeta, and Baksa districts are also under alert, indicating widespread rainfall that could exacerbate the flood conditions across the state.
Residents in these regions are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of heavy rain.
