Pahalman Subba, the trailblazing first elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Sikkim, passed away early this morning at Central Referral Hospital at the age of 90. Subba had been dealing with health complications for several days prior to his passing.
The state has been engulfed in a wave of tributes following Subba’s death, with condolences pouring in from numerous quarters, including the Chief Minister. In an emotional statement, the CM expressed his sorrow and extended heartfelt sympathies to Subba’s family and friends.
“The news of former MP, Late Shri Pahalman Subba Jyu’s passing deeply saddens me. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives, and friends during this challenging time and pray for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace,” the CM stated.
The Chief Minister also visited the hospital to pay his respects to Subba, describing the occasion as a somber tribute to a distinguished leader. He met with Subba’s family to personally offer his condolences.
Subba’s body will be transported to Timbrbung in Soreng for his final rites. His enduring legacy and significant contributions to Sikkim’s political landscape will be cherished and remembered with deep respect.
