Imphal/New Delhi, June 27: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh took decisive action today by convening a high-level meeting with ruling MLAs to tackle the escalating ethnic unrest gripping the state. The discussions were geared towards formulating effective strategies aimed at restoring peace and stability amidst the ongoing turmoil.
Simultaneously, BJP’s Manipur president A Sharda Devi met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Thursday. The meeting underscored the urgent imperative for a lasting solution to bring tranquility to the region.
“I met Hon’ble Home Minister, Shri @AmitShah ji, for a comprehensive discussion on Manipur’s current situation. We conveyed the aspirations of the people and stressed the need for immediate steps towards achieving a permanent resolution and restoring peace,” Devi announced on social media.
Devi also emphasized the critical importance of resettling internally displaced persons (IDPs) and ensuring their comprehensive rehabilitation. She expressed confidence in the Centre’s understanding of the complex situation and its commitment to addressing the urgent needs of the affected population.
The ethnic violence in Manipur has tragically resulted in over 200 fatalities and displaced thousands, underscoring the pressing need for swift intervention and effective resolution strategies.
