Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Urges Action on Teok-Sivasagar Highway Issues

Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has raised urgent concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of the Teok-Sivasagar Highway in the Jorhat region, highlighting its critical role in local connectivity and the persistent challenges affecting its construction.

Taking to the microblogging platform X, Gogoi emphasized the highway’s significance for regional connectivity while lamenting its current state. He pointed out prolonged construction delays and hazardous road conditions that have resulted in frequent accidents and lengthy traffic congestion.

“The condition of several sections of the road has been deteriorating for years. It is unfortunate that despite ongoing efforts, the road remains in a deplorable state,” Gogoi expressed. “The local population faces significant inconvenience due to these issues, including accidents and prolonged traffic disruptions.”

The MP highlighted instances where contractors have abandoned the project midway, coupled with ineffective tendering processes that have failed to yield satisfactory results. He underscored the need for immediate intervention to address these longstanding issues.

Calling upon the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, for urgent action, Gogoi expressed optimism that the recent visit by Gadkari to Jorhat would lead to swift measures to complete the highway. “I urge Hon’ble Minister Nitin Gadkari to intervene and expedite the completion of this crucial highway. It is essential to alleviate the hardships faced by the local population,” he appealed.

Gogoi’s advocacy underscores the pressing need for infrastructure improvement to enhance connectivity and ensure safer travel conditions along the Teok-Sivasagar Highway, reflecting broader concerns for regional development and public welfare in Assam.
