Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria Oversees Flood Relief Operations in Morigaon

Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria visited Bhuragaon in Morigaon on July 4 to assess the flood situation and oversee relief efforts. During his visit, Governor Kataria directed the administration to ensure thorough and effective relief measures for all affected residents.

Governor Kataria visited flood-hit areas, including Bardowatup and Bhuragaon, where he engaged with medical professionals to ensure that adequate healthcare services are being provided to those impacted by the floods. He assured farmers and families affected by the floods that they would receive appropriate compensation and necessary relief.

The flood situation in Morigaon district remains dire, with thousands of residents affected and 194 villages still underwater, according to the District Administration.

“The water rose suddenly in just one day this year, causing significant property loss. We have established tents and shelters, and the administration is providing drinking water and food. The flooding of the Brahmaputra River has been a persistent issue, deeply troubling the local residents,” remarked a local resident from an inundated village in Morigaon district.

Governor Kataria’s visit highlights the state’s commitment to providing support and relief to those impacted by the floods, ensuring that all necessary resources are mobilized to aid in recovery efforts.
