Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Offers Condolences, Assures Support to Family of Avinash Sarkar

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his heartfelt condolences during a visit to the grieving family of 8-year-old Avinash Sarkar, who tragically lost his life after being swept away by floodwaters on July 4th. Sarma assured Avinash’s parents of the government’s steadfast support during this difficult period.

Avinash’s body was recovered on July 7th following a rigorous three-day search operation. His parents, Hiralal and his wife, identified their son’s remains at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), where forensic procedures are ongoing.

The incident occurred in the Jyotinagar area amidst heavy rainfall when Avinash slipped from his father’s scooter. Despite Hiralal’s valiant efforts to save him, the swift current proved overwhelming. The parents remained at the search site, holding onto hope amid the tragedy.

Expressing his condolences on social media platform X, Sarma wrote, “Avinash’s parents are facing an unimaginable tragedy. I want to assure them that we stand firmly with them during this time of sorrow. Om Shanti 🙏🏼.”

Chief Minister Sarma had previously visited the Sarkar family on Saturday, overseeing search operations and providing solace. His recent visit underscores the government’s commitment to standing by the family as they navigate through this profound loss.
