Landslide in Munsithang, North Sikkim: No Casualties Reported

Munsithang, July 22 – On July 21, a landslide occurred in Munsithang, along the route to Lachen in North Sikkim. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties.

The region is still grappling with connectivity issues due to a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) from the previous year, compounded by ongoing heavy rainfall that complicates road restoration efforts.

In related developments, the District Magistrate of Kalimpong has reported progress on the restoration of National Highway 10 (NH 10). The Public Works Department (PWD) anticipates completing the project within a week.

The district administration has emphasized the project’s importance and will provide an official update upon completion. Residents and travelers are advised to stay informed for further announcements.
