Heatwave Strikes Again in Assam: Daily Wage Worker Dies from Extreme Heat

Rangia, July 27 — Assam’s relentless heatwave has resulted in yet another tragic fatality. On Saturday, a daily wage worker, Jogen Kalita, aged 55, from Rangia in Kamrup district, succumbed to the severe temperatures.

Kalita, who was performing his usual labor under the harsh sun, reportedly felt unwell after returning home. Despite seeking medical attention, he lost consciousness and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local private hospital.

The incident highlights the escalating impact of extreme weather conditions in the region. Local officials are advising residents to take preventive measures, including staying hydrated and minimizing outdoor exposure during the hottest parts of the day, to prevent heat-related health issues.
