Gaurav Gogoi Slams BJP’s Budget as Neglectful and Biased

New Delhi, July 28, 2024 — Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has fiercely criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for what he describes as a nationwide neglect enacted through their recent Union budget. According to Gogoi, the budget overlooks key sectors and demographics, including farmers, students, taxpayers, and urban residents.

Speaking to reporters, Gogoi specifically targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for denying legal protection to farmers concerning the Minimum Support Price (MSP). “BJP has boycotted the students of India whose higher education exams got repeatedly cancelled. They boycotted the hardworking taxpayers by removing benefit on indexation,” Gogoi remarked.

He further lambasted the BJP for neglecting infrastructure, highlighting damage to railway lines and bridges across the country. “BJP has boycotted people living in cities and towns,” he stated.

Gogoi accused the BJP of prioritizing the interests of a few large industrialists over the needs of the broader population, suggesting that this approach led the INDIA bloc to boycott the BJP in the NITI Aayog meeting. He labelled the BJP as selfish, describing PM Modi as weak and helpless, and claimed that Modi’s actions are driven by a need to appease key allies like Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu to maintain his government.

Expressing concern over the implications for the next budget, Gogoi noted that despite upcoming elections in Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, the current budget already shows signs of neglecting the rest of India. He predicted that next year’s budget would disproportionately benefit the Janata Dal (United) (JDU).

He concluded with a call to action, asserting that the BJP will face electoral repercussions in states like Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Jammu and Kashmir.
