The Sikkim Science Centre has been officially included in the state’s tourist itinerary, marking a significant enhancement to Sikkim’s cultural and educational tourism offerings. This move is aimed at increasing the Centre’s visibility and providing a unique educational experience for visitors.
Sandeep Tambe, Secretary of Sikkim’s Department of Science and Technology (DST), highlighted the importance of this addition. “By incorporating the Sikkim Science Centre into the official tourist itinerary, we aim to expand visitors’ understanding of science and technology. The Centre features interactive exhibits and programs designed to engage both children and adults,” Tambe said.
The Centre’s attractions include a 3D theatre, a planetarium, and an innovation hub, each designed to offer an immersive experience in the field of science. The inclusion of these facilities in the tourism itinerary is expected to boost visitor engagement and provide valuable educational opportunities.
Tambe also emphasized the benefits for the local community and school students, noting that the Centre’s new status will foster a greater appreciation for science and technology among residents. “This initiative will not only enhance tourism but also support local education by providing children with innovative learning experiences,” he added.
The addition of the Sikkim Science Centre to the official tourist itinerary aims to enrich Sikkim’s cultural and educational landscape, promoting scientific curiosity and learning among all visitors.
