The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), a leading student organization, has raised serious allegations against the Border Security Force (BSF) following an incident at the Indo-Bangladesh border. The MZP claims that on August 5, 2024, Zirsangliana was assaulted by Inspector Harish Sankar Rai and his team from the 20th Battalion BSF at the B.O.P Crocodile outpost. According to the MZP, Zirsangliana had crossed into Bangladesh to visit relatives when the alleged assault occurred.
The MZP has also criticized the Mizoram police for reportedly refusing to register a complaint against the BSF. Lawngtlai SP Lokeshwaran responded by stating that Zirsangliana was returned to Vasai Police Station by the BSF, and no FIR was filed as he is an Indian citizen.
In defense, an unnamed BSF official contended that Zirsangliana sustained injuries from a fall while trying to return from Bangladesh. The official claimed Zirsangliana was suspected of smuggling Bawm community members into Mizoram and had attempted to flee from BSF personnel, leading to his injuries. The official added that Zirsangliana received initial medical care at the BOP Crocodile Nursing Station before being transferred to the Vasai Police Station.
