Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang recently met with Major General K.S. Dhatwal of the 27 Mountain Division at his official residence to discuss key military operations and environmental management in North Sikkim.
During the meeting, Major General Dhatwal briefed the Chief Minister on various ongoing military activities in the region, particularly infrastructure development along riversides aimed at mitigating soil erosion. He highlighted the collaborative efforts with the state’s Chief Secretary to identify and manage critical erosion-prone areas through targeted river training measures.
The discussion also included updates on the monitoring of lakes in North Sikkim, with Major General Dhatwal stressing the importance of tracking water levels to mitigate potential environmental risks.
In a subsequent Facebook post, CM Tamang reiterated the state government’s commitment to working closely with the military, ensuring the safety and well-being of the region’s residents through ongoing infrastructure and environmental initiatives.
