Aizawl, August 10, 2024 — In a critical effort to resolve the ongoing border dispute between Assam and Mizoram, Assam’s Minister for Border Protection & Development, Atul Bora, held talks with Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma at his residence today.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Lalduhoma highlighted the persistent challenges posed by the border conflict, noting that previous discussions have often led to a stalemate due to the emphasis on maintaining the status quo. “The adherence to the status quo has hindered our goal of finding a permanent resolution,” Lalduhoma stated, underscoring his administration’s resolve to seek a definitive solution within their current term.
Minister Bora welcomed the dialogue as a positive step forward and reiterated Assam’s commitment to a peaceful and lasting resolution. He stressed the need for continued communication and cooperation between the two states to effectively address the border issues.
