Traffic Advisory for Road Repairs and Landslide Impact on NH-29 in Kohima

Kohima, August 10, 2024 — Deputy Commissioner Kumar Ramnikant has issued a traffic advisory regarding road repairs on Box Cutting Road and the impact of recent landslides on National Highway 29 (NH-29).

Box Cutting Road in Kohima will undergo essential repair work from August 10 to 14, 2024. During this period, the road will be completely closed to all vehicular traffic on August 10 and 11. From August 12 to 14, only downward traffic will be permitted. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes via Ladies Mile Road and the NHAK-TCP gate during the closure.

Simultaneously, recent landslides have disrupted NH-29, a key route between Kohima and Dimapur. Heavy rains have caused significant damage, particularly in Dzuchie, Dzudza (GREF Temple), and Kezanu, Jotsoma (Old KMC dumping site). The administration is working to clear debris and repair the affected sections of the highway.

Travelers are urged to exercise caution on NH-29 and consider alternative routes if possible until repairs are completed.
