Seven Killed in Two-Part Collision on NH-27 Near Mahamaya Temple

Gossaigaon, August 11, 2024 — A severe road accident on National Highway 27 near Mahamaya Temple in Kachugaon, Gossaigaon, has resulted in the deaths of seven people, with another person critically injured. The incident began when a truck lost control and crashed near the temple, leading to a tragic chain of events.

Local authorities, including Gossaigaon Sub-Divisional Police Officer Hiren Kumar Deka and Kachugaon Police, responded promptly. Preliminary reports indicate that the truck was involved in a subsequent collision in Bishmuri, Kokrajhar, where it hit a car, causing two additional fatalities.

The victims of the initial crash have been identified as Sukran Roy (20), Jai Roy (11), Bappi Ghosh (21), Basudev Roy (22), and Naba Ghosh (26), all from Hatigarh Village No. 1, Gossaigaon. The injured, Binan Roy (22), was transported to Kachugaon Primary Hospital for emergency care.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accidents as the community mourns the loss.
