India marked its 78th Independence Day with vibrant celebrations, highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from the historic Red Fort in Delhi. This year’s ceremony was significant as it marked the 11th time PM Modi has spoken from this iconic venue.

The celebrations commenced with PM Modi hoisting the National Flag, followed by a dramatic aerial display by two Advanced Light Helicopters Dhruv from the Indian Air Force, which showered flower petals over the Red Fort. Wing Commander Amber Agarwal and Wing Commander Rahul Nainwal led this formation.

Following the flag hoisting, PM Modi received a ‘Rashtriya Salute’ accompanied by the National Anthem, played by the Punjab Regiment Military Band under the direction of Subedar Major Rajinder Singh.

Before the Red Fort ceremony, PM Modi shared Independence Day greetings on social media, writing, “Independence Day greetings to my fellow Indians. Jai Hind!”

At the Red Fort, PM Modi was welcomed by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, who introduced him to Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Delhi Area. The Prime Minister then inspected the Guard of Honour, which included personnel from the Army, Air Force, and Delhi Police.
