Authorities Warn Against Ticket Resale for Durand Cup Semi-Final in Shillong

With the Durand Cup semi-final between Shillong Lajong FC and North East United FC drawing near, authorities have issued a strong warning against the resale of tickets. The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs highlighted the issue in a press release on August 25, urging fans to report any ticket resale activities to Meghalaya Police.

Scheduled for August 26 at the JN Stadium in Shillong, the match has sold out all 15,000 seats due to high demand. To prevent counterfeit tickets, all official passes include holograms, and only those with valid tickets will be allowed entry.

To manage the large influx of spectators, fan parks have been set up in various locations around Shillong, including Malki Sports Ground, Madan Saw in Golf Links, and Police Point Parking Lot in Laitumkhrah. These areas will serve as alternative viewing spots for those who could not secure tickets.

Authorities have also advised those without tickets to avoid the stadium area after 12 pm on match day to assist with crowd control. In adherence to football safety protocols, certain sections of the stands have been left unsold.

The community is urged to support their teams responsibly and help maintain order during the event.
