The government highlighted several advantages of smart meters, including simplified recharging processes, an emergency credit of ₹300, and the ability to pay old bills in small daily installments. Additionally, smart meters support solar rooftop installations without extra costs and feature a Tariff of the Day policy for accessing cheaper power rates.
APDCL assured that smart meters provide accurate readings comparable to traditional meters.
