Assam Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass Announces First PMAY-G Installments for Over 1.7 Lakh Families

Guwahati, Assam: Assam Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass has announced that 1.71 lakh families across the state will receive their initial payments under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0 scheme as part of a nationwide distribution effort. This announcement highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing rural housing infrastructure.

Minister Dass, responsible for Panchayat and Rural Development, underscored the progress made under the scheme, noting that 15,13,133 pucca homes have been completed since the initiative was revitalized in 2021. This figure represents a significant increase from the 4.20 lakh homes constructed in the previous five-year period.

Dass attributed the boost in housing construction to the enhanced work ethic within the department, regular oversight by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and his own rigorous monitoring at the panchayat level. This proactive approach has led to a more efficient execution of the PMAY-G scheme, benefiting a substantial number of rural households.
