In a significant demonstration of leadership, Smt. Varnali Deka, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari, Assam, showcased her expertise at a prestigious virtual session hosted by the National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG). The event, organized under the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, included an international delegation from Mauritius.
As the sole representative from Assam and the entire Northeast region, Deka was one of only five officials selected from across India to participate. A recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration, she highlighted the critical role of District Collectors in tackling governance challenges and pursuing innovative reforms aligned with the objectives of the PM’s Awards.
During her presentation, Deka addressed the unique hurdles faced by women in administrative positions, sharing personal insights on balancing effective leadership with transformative governance practices. Her participation underscores the importance of proactive governance and the potential of women leaders in driving meaningful change within their communities.
