Sikkim and Nagaland Crowned Joint Winners of Inaugural NECDC Senior Women’s T20 Tournament After Rain Halts Final

The Sikkim Senior Women’s team and Nagaland were declared joint champions of the first-ever NECDC Senior Women’s Interstate Friendship T20 Tournament after heavy rain forced the cancellation of the final in Nongkhrah, Meghalaya.

Sikkim showcased a dominant performance throughout the tournament, remaining undefeated and topping the group stage with eight points. In an earlier match, Sikkim had secured a four-wicket victory over Nagaland, highlighting their strong form.

Organized by the North East Cricket Development Council, the tournament, hosted by the Meghalaya Cricket Association, featured teams from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim, providing a platform to celebrate and nurture regional talent.

This competition also served as valuable preparation for Sikkim ahead of their participation in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in Lucknow from October 17 to 24. Tika Subba, President of the Sikkim Cricket Association, expressed pride in the team’s achievement, stating, “We believe this experience will empower our players as they enter the domestic season with renewed determination.”
