Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Celebrates Major Recruitment Milestone at GMCH

In a momentous recruitment ceremony at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) auditorium, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presented appointment letters to 385 successful candidates, marking significant progress in the state’s employment and education initiatives. The event drew esteemed dignitaries and showcased the government’s commitment to enhancing job opportunities in the region.

Out of the 385 appointments, 183 letters were distributed under the Directorate of Vocational Education, 81 under the Directorate of Higher Education, 20 lecturer positions in the State Education Research and Training Council, and 101 roles within the Health and Family Welfare Department.

During his address, Chief Minister Sarma proudly announced that the state government had not only met but exceeded its ambitious target of creating 1 lakh jobs, with a total of 1,25,030 recruitments achieved to date.

“We have surpassed our goal of 1 lakh appointments. As of now, we have offered jobs to 1,25,030 individuals,” he declared, expressing pride in the government’s efforts to combat unemployment.

Sarma also acknowledged previous challenges related to the recruitment of engineering faculty, assuring that corrective measures were being implemented, with plans to appoint 136 engineering lecturers. He disclosed that recruitment for an additional 35,000 positions across various departments is currently underway.

“There were previous obstacles in recruiting engineering lecturers, but now we are making strides to appoint 136 individuals in this field. Moreover, 35,000 positions are open for recruitment across the state,” Sarma emphasized, highlighting the government’s proactive approach to addressing educational staffing needs.

Reflecting on progress in the education sector, the Chief Minister revealed that, in the last three years, the state had appointed 2,084 lecturers, which significantly alleviated the frustrations of the educated youth in Assam.

“In previous years, large-scale recruitment like this was unheard of. However, in the last three years alone, we have successfully appointed 2,084 lecturers, easing the frustrations of educated youth who had been waiting for opportunities,” Sarma noted, underscoring the government’s commitment to educational reform.

Sarma reassured the public that the entire recruitment process was conducted with full transparency, stating that efforts to fill university positions were ongoing.

“Every appointment so far has been conducted with transparency, and the recruitment process continues for positions in universities as well,” he affirmed, reinforcing the integrity of the hiring process.

In a notable announcement, Sarma revealed the appointment of 101 new professionals in the Ayurvedic sector, along with plans to establish a new Ayurvedic college in Dudhnoi, further bolstering the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

This milestone event not only highlighted the Assam government’s dedication to enhancing employment opportunities but also showcased its focus on advancing the education and healthcare sectors in the state.
