Manipur Governor Visits CAU’s College of Food Technology, Emphasizes Role of Agriculture

Manipur Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya paid a visit to the College of Food Technology at Central Agricultural University (CAU), Lamphelpat, Imphal, on October 13. During his tour, he was warmly welcomed by CAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Anupam Mishra, along with faculty members, who guided him through the college’s state-of-the-art food processing and manufacturing facilities designed to advance student education in the field of food technology.

Governor Acharya commended the institution’s commitment to promoting local produce development and its efforts in boosting the food manufacturing sector in Manipur. During the visit, he also inspected the Biofloc Units, where different fish species and fish feed are cultured, highlighting the college’s focus on sustainable aquaculture practices.

The Governor also explored the North East Food Museum at CAU’s Ecotourism Park, which showcases the rich and diverse food heritage of the region. In an interactive session with students, Governor Acharya underscored the crucial role agriculture plays in shaping India’s future, encouraging students to prioritize sustainable farming and nutrition as key drivers for long-term growth in the sector.

Later in the day, Governor Acharya held discussions with Govind Prasad Uniyal, Commanding Officer of the 109th Battalion, CRPF, at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, to address further matters of significance.
