Mizoram Government Appoints C Zodinpuii as Chairperson of State Women’s Commission

Aizawl, Mizoram – The Mizoram government has appointed C Zodinpuii as the new chairperson of the state women’s commission, effective Wednesday. She succeeds C Lalchhandami, who resigned from the position in early September amid protests from the opposition party, the Mizo National Front (MNF), and various student organizations.

Zodinpuii brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having earned a master’s degree in social work with a specialization in family and child welfare from the TATA Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai. Throughout her career in the government, she has served in various capacities within the State Social Welfare Department, culminating in her retirement as the department’s joint director on December 31, 2023.

In addition to her administrative experience, Zodinpuii is a master trainer of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, further highlighting her commitment to women’s issues and welfare. Her appointment is seen as a significant step towards strengthening the advocacy and support for women’s rights in the state.
