BSF Detains Five Indians Attempting to Cross into Bangladesh, Seizes Contraband Worth Rs 35 Lakh

On October 20, the Border Security Force (BSF) detained five Indian nationals, including a minor, who were attempting to exfiltrate to Bangladesh from Harnakhola Border Out Post in West Tripura District. According to a statement from the BSF, all five individuals belong to the same family and reside in South Ramnagar, Agartala.

The operation, based on specific intelligence, was part of the BSF’s efforts to curb illegal cross-border activities. Alongside the detention, BSF personnel under the Tripura Frontier seized a significant quantity of contraband items valued at Rs 35 lakh. The confiscated items include 2,000 Yaba tablets, 146 kg of Ganja, 350 kg of sugar, and 225 bottles of Phensedyl, along with other contraband substances.

The BSF emphasized that they have intensified border surveillance and operations in Tripura to prevent not only infiltration and exfiltration but also trans-border crimes. The crackdown is part of the BSF’s ongoing efforts to maintain security and thwart illegal activities along the India-Bangladesh border.
