Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Rise Again Amid Ongoing Hikes

Oil marketing companies have announced another increase in the price of commercial LPG cylinders, marking the fourth consecutive month of hikes. Effective November 1, 2024, the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder in Delhi has surged from ₹1,740 to ₹1,802, reflecting a substantial increase of ₹62 per cylinder. Additionally, the cost of 5-kg free trade LPG cylinders has also risen by ₹15.

Despite the hikes in commercial cylinder prices, the rate of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders remains unchanged, providing some respite for household consumers. However, businesses reliant on LPG are feeling the strain as operational costs continue to rise.

The updated prices for 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders across major cities are now as follows:

  • Delhi: ₹1,802
  • Mumbai: ₹1,754.50
  • Kolkata: ₹1,911.50
  • Chennai: ₹1,964.50

This latest surge continues a trend that began on October 1, when the rate for the 19-kg cylinder was increased by ₹48.50 in Delhi, bringing the total cost to ₹1,740.

The continued rise in LPG prices is contributing to growing financial pressures on consumers and businesses alike, prompting concerns about affordability in the current economic climate. As rising costs affect a range of sectors, many are calling for a review of pricing strategies to alleviate the burden on those most impacted by these adjustments.
