Tipra Indigenous Students Federation Appeals for Improved Educational Facilities in Tripura

The Tipra Indigenous Students Federation (TISF), the student wing of the Tipra Motha Party, recently met with Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu to address the pressing need for enhanced infrastructure and basic facilities in the state’s educational institutions.

During the meeting, the TISF highlighted several shortcomings that they believe could adversely affect future generations of students. Among their requests, they urged the Governor to implement a dress code mandating the traditional Tripuri cloth, Rignai, to be worn twice a week in all schools and colleges, promoting cultural heritage alongside education.

In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, the federation expressed their concerns following visits to various colleges and schools across the state. They reported a severe lack of essential study materials, with many classrooms lacking basic educational resources.

The memorandum detailed several key issues:

  • Insufficient restroom facilities: Many schools and colleges do not have adequate restrooms for students, impacting their comfort and hygiene.
  • Lack of proper drinking water: The federation noted that many institutions fail to provide safe drinking water, a fundamental necessity for student health.
  • Inadequate seating arrangements: Overcrowding and insufficient seating have been common complaints among students.
  • Electricity shortages: Many educational facilities suffer from a lack of reliable electricity, hindering the learning environment.

The TISF stressed that these basic facilities are essential for creating a conducive learning atmosphere. They urged the Governor to take immediate action to ensure that students in Tripura receive the facilities they rightfully deserve, emphasizing the importance of educational infrastructure for the state’s development.
