Agatha Sangma Takes Charge as Chairperson of Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights
Former Tura MP Agatha Sangma has officially assumed the role of Chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR). The appointment, announced by the National People’s Party-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance 2.0 government on September 6, was delayed due to health issues, with Agatha now taking charge on Tuesday.
After assuming her new role, Agatha, sister of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, met with Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh and the MSCPCR team to discuss her vision and priorities. Emphasizing her dedication to child welfare, Agatha expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I am excited for this opportunity to work for the welfare and safety of children. I look forward to adding more value to the work done by the commission in the past.”
Highlighting community involvement as essential to creating safer spaces for children, Agatha underlined the importance of working closely with communities across Meghalaya. Her leadership aims to strengthen child protection measures and foster an environment where children can thrive securely.
