SOG Raids Drug Hideout in Noonmati, Arrests Two Peddlers and Seizes Heroin

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the city police, in coordination with Chandmari Police Station, raided a hideout in Guwahati’s Noonmati area. The operation led to the arrest of two drug peddlers and the recovery of a significant quantity of heroin.

The arrested individuals were identified as Mintu Rahman (28) and Md Dhon Ali (41). Authorities confiscated 50 vials of suspected heroin weighing 68 grams, 550 empty vials, 10 empty soap cases, Rs 61,500 in cash, and four mobile phones. Additionally, two scooters and a car outfitted with a red siren were seized during the operation.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused, marking a significant step in the city’s fight against drug trafficking.

In a separate incident in Dhubri’s Bisondai area, drug peddler Azimul Haque was apprehended with two containers of brown sugar and a motorcycle. However, an accomplice managed to evade arrest.

These operations reflect an intensified effort by law enforcement agencies to combat the region’s drug menace.
