Tripura Police Arrest Two Bangladeshi Nationals Attempting Illegal Border Crossing

Tripura Police apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals, including a minor girl, in the West Chandrapur area of Dharmanagar in the North District while they were reportedly planning to cross the border back into Bangladesh after returning from Bangalore.

A police official stated, “Acting on secret information, we detained two Bangladeshi nationals, including a minor girl, from the residence of Nasir Ali in West Chandrapur under Dharmanagar Police Station. Five others were reportedly present at the scene but managed to escape upon spotting the police.”

The detained individuals have been identified as Nazma, a 35-year-old woman, and her minor daughter, both residents of Khulna, Bangladesh. The police have registered a case and begun interrogating the pair to gather further details.

During questioning, Nazma revealed that she had traveled from Bangalore to Tripura by train. She admitted to paying Rs 10,000 to a tout who had promised assistance in crossing the international border back into Bangladesh.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to track down the absconding individuals and uncover the network facilitating illegal border crossings in the region.
