Addressing the media, DSP Nishita Jagtap stated, “Two minor girls were abducted from their home, leading to the registration of a case. Through diligent investigation, we identified and apprehended several suspects. Their interrogation revealed critical information, enabling us to arrest nine individuals and dismantle a human trafficking ring in Tinsukia.”

The operation, spearheaded by DSP Jagtap and SI Riaz Ali, uncovered that the two children had been sold for Rs 2 lakh in Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh. Swift police action ensured the safe rescue of the victims and disrupted the trafficking chain.

Investigators discovered that the trafficking network had established strong roots in the tea garden areas of upper Assam, using these communities as a base for their illicit activities.
