The special task force (STF) of Assam Police conducted successful raids in Guwahati on Tuesday, recovering a substantial quantity of heroin and arresting two notorious drug traffickers. The raids were carried out in the Jyotikuchi and Lakhimi Nagar areas of the city.
According to the officials, a total of 62.81 grams of heroin, packed in 47 containers, was seized during the operations. The arrested individuals have been identified as Shubham Saha and Amiya Das. Both are now facing legal action as investigations continue.
This operation comes just a day after the STF had seized 37.03 grams of heroin, contained in 28 packets, and arrested a trafficker in a raid in the Jorabat 9 Mile area, falling under the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station. During this raid, Rs 2,700 in cash and a mobile phone were also seized. The accused in this case, identified as Garei (22), hails from 12 Mile, Jorabat.
The Assam STF’s continued crackdown on drug trafficking aims to curb the illegal drug trade and its associated harm to the community.
