Sikkim’s Boxing Team Shines at the 8th Elite Men’s National Boxing Championship

A talented team of boxers from Sikkim is making a mark at the ongoing 8th Elite Men’s National Boxing Championship at Invertis University, Bareilly. The championship, organized in collaboration with the U.P. Boxing Association, is taking place from January 7 to 13, 2025.

The Sikkim contingent includes athletes Krishna Kailash Rai (50 kg), Ram Lal Munda (55 kg), Pravin Chettri (60 kg), Samir Rai (65 kg), Mahir Tamang (70 kg), Tsheten Lepcha (75 kg), and Sidhanta Chettri (85 kg). They are being coached by Prabin Limboo, with Bhim Bdr Limboo serving as the team manager.

A special highlight is Mahir Tamang, a promising young boxer from Khimsithang Ward in the Martam Rumtek Constituency. His participation exemplifies the dedication of Sikkim’s youth to achieving excellence in sports.

Further boosting the team’s morale, Arun Dagar, Financial Advisor of the Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association (SABA), has sponsored tracksuits for the athletes, emphasizing the growing support and development of boxing in the state.
