Free Police Recruitment Coaching in Jaintia Hills Attracts Over 2,800 Aspirants

A remarkable turnout of over 2,800 candidates has been recorded at three training centres in Jaintia Hills for a free police recruitment coaching programme, spearheaded by local MLA Wailadmiki Shylla. The three-day workshop, held from January 9 to 11, marks the third edition of this initiative, aimed at empowering local youth for competitive exams.

The programme has attracted participants across various recruitment categories, with 1,800 candidates in AB (Armed Branch), 700 in UB (Unarmed Branch), and 350 in UBSI (Unarmed Branch Sub-Inspector). Training sessions are being conducted simultaneously at Thomas Jones Synod College, Mihmyntdu, and Mukhla centres.

The curriculum includes intensive coaching on English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge, tailored to the police department’s examination syllabus. Special attention is given to candidates from rural areas, many of whom lack access to adequate study resources.

Speaking on the programme’s success, Shylla shared his excitement on social media, stating, “The response has been incredible.” While the workshops aim to equip participants with strategic guidance and knowledge, organisers have clarified that participation does not guarantee success in examinations or employment.

“I am confident that this workshop will serve as a valuable guide for aspiring candidates, empowering them to excel in their exams. Focused sessions covering the syllabus are a step toward helping our youth achieve their dreams,” Shylla added.

Serving both East and West Jaintia Hills districts, the initiative primarily targets economically disadvantaged youth. In addition to police recruitment, the programme also provides guidance for the upcoming Departmental Selection Committee (DSC) examinations, further broadening opportunities for participants.

This initiative underscores Shylla’s commitment to addressing educational disparities and fostering self-reliance among the youth in Jaintia Hills, with the programme’s growing popularity reflecting its impact on the community.
