Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla Visits Moreh Border Town, Reviews ICP Operations

On January 10, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla visited the border town of Moreh in Tengnoupal district to assess the operations of the Integrated Check Post (ICP).

Officials from the Land Ports Authority of India briefed the Governor on the functioning of the ICP during his visit. Bhalla also engaged with leaders from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to hear their concerns and grievances.

The Governor met with local business and community leaders, including representatives from the Border Trade Chamber of Commerce, Tamil Sangam, Manipur Muslim Council, and Gurkha Samaj. These leaders highlighted the challenges they have faced, particularly the suspension of cross-border trade activities since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Later, Bhalla visited the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No. 1 and No. 2, followed by a trip to Govajang Village. There, he was briefed by the Commanding Officer of the 25 BRTF about the ongoing fencing work along the Indo-Myanmar border. He also distributed gifts to the Border Roads Organization (BRO) officials and local workforce, encouraging them to continue their work.
