The South Tripura Youth Forum (STYF) celebrated the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda by embracing his values of service and empathy. To mark the occasion, the Forum organized a large-scale health camp and distributed essential winter clothing to residents of the remote Batisha Gram Panchayat in the Rajnagar RD Block of Tripura’s South District.
Comprising members of diverse age groups from the South District, STYF has earned recognition for its community-oriented initiatives, especially during the recent floods that wreaked havoc in the region. Their dedication to aiding those affected by the calamity has set a precedent for grassroots relief efforts.
In Batisha, a village nestled in the ‘Western Hills’ and characterized by widespread poverty, many families struggle to make ends meet, often relying on daily wages for survival. Basic necessities such as proper clothing and nourishment remain inaccessible for many, particularly children. Responding to this pressing need, STYF distributed 45 blankets, 35 pairs of sandals, and 15 towels. They also provided additional winter clothing for children and the elderly, aiming to offer warmth and comfort during the cold season.
The day’s activities included a health camp spearheaded by a team of medical professionals, supported by health workers, nurses, lab technicians, and pharmacists. The camp provided free medical services such as blood sugar testing, hemoglobin level monitoring, and blood pressure checks. Medicines, generously supplied by pharmaceutical collaborators in Agartala, were distributed at no cost to patients, ensuring their health concerns were addressed effectively.
This initiative marked the Forum’s first major health camp of 2025 and built on their record of organizing three similar camps during the floods of 2024. It also represented their eighth clothing distribution drive, highlighting their unwavering commitment to community welfare. The Forum expressed deep satisfaction in being able to reach out to the people of Batisha and reaffirmed its pledge to continue such efforts across the region.
In a message of gratitude, the Forum thanked its members and supporters for their dedication to the cause. “True social service means standing by those in need,” said an STYF representative. “Inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, we hope to have brought some relief and care to the residents of Batisha today. We remain committed to expanding our efforts to reach more areas in the future.”
